How Do I Get Rid Of Bed Bugs?

Ways To Get Rid Of  Bed Bugs

Eradicating bed bugs can be a very tough job. Most often times people will not attempt to eradicate them on their own and they will call in exterminators. This method is usually effective if the steps that the exterminators give are followed. For example, bag all clothes and material objects and dry them for at least 30 minutes. The problem is, exterminators can be very expensive. Sometimes people take matters into their own hands to kill bed bugs. Here are some methods that could help you get rid of bed bugs.

Household Methods For Killing Bed Bugs -

Steaming

Buy or rent a steam cleaner. Bed bugs can’t survive in heat 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. So the steam cleaner will kill them if it comes in contact with them. Go over all spots you think the bed bugs may be and make sure you do a thorough job.

Freezing

Bed bugs can not survive in cold weather. Try to turn down your thermostat when you are searching for the bed bugs because this will cause them to slow down and make them easier to spot. Also if you store any items you think may contain bed bugs outside for a while on a cold windy day, they will not be able to live long and will die.

Vacuum

Grab a vacuum and put a hose attachment on it. Vacuum mattress seams, cracks, carpets, floors, corners and basically anywhere you think the bed bugs may be hiding. It is VERY important to carefully and immediately dump the filter in a garbage bag, seal it tight and take it out to the dumpster.

High-Heat Cleaning

Some other high heat cleaning methods consist of washing your clothes in very hot water and drying on the hottest setting. Also taking your mattress and other items potentially containing bed bugs and placing them outside on a very hot day. The bed bugs will eventually die from the heat.
